Have you noticed the moon this weekend? It is beautiful and full and seems bigger than sometimes. It is so bright that even as I sit here in my office at 6 a.m. I can see the moon out my west window shining beautifully. The stunning light reminds me of God's precious care that is constant.
"Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what5 were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone--while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?" (Job 38:4-7 NIV).
This reminds me of a favorite hymn that is so appropriate anytime we are thinking of God's creation. "This Is My Father's World".
"This is my Father's world, And to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings The music of the spheres. This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas--His hand the wonders wrought. This is my Father's world, The birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, Declare their Maker's praise. This is my Father's world: He shines in all that's fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass, He speaks to me everywhere. This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet. This is my Father's world: Why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King: let the heavens ring! God reigns: let earth be glad!"
May we celebrate the beauty of fall in God's creation and lift our praise to Him on high. Amen.
