It is nesting time for the geese all over Ankeny and perhaps beyond. Nearly every street has a pair of geese hunkered down on a nest. The gander is protective to a point of danger if you draw too close. He carefully guards the nest, keeping all other geese away.
"But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm," (Proverbs 1:33 NIV).
God is our protector. He watches over us and guards us from evil. He is our security, always there for us when we need Him.
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety," (Psalm 4:8 NIV).
God is a loving Father whom we can trust. Sleep in peace for God alone oversees all.
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear!" (Psalm 46:1, 2a NIV).
Thank you, God, for being our Father who loves us and watches over us. Thank you for sheltering over us and standing beside us. Thank you for sending Your Holy Spirit to live in us. Thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus, to the cross to save us from our sins. In gratitude and in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
