This season of my life has been filled with doctor appointments. This month alone I will have a total of nine meetings with medical professionals. Not that I am trying to set a record or anything...it is just the way things are working out. I get it. I'm old and my body is falling apart. At this rate I hate to think what it will be like if I'm still here in 10 years.
At our old (home) church John and I were elders for many years. We were blessed to be able to reach out to those who were dealing with serious health conditions. We gathered with the rest of the elders to lay hands on the sick. We were privileged to see God's healing power before our very eyes! Truly God is the Great Healer.
"Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up," (James 5:14-15 NIV).
Serving as an elder and reaching out to visit the sick, the lonely, the aged, was truly a blessing. To experience the healing power of our Great God in others strengthened my own faith. I know God is the Great Healer and I trust Him with all things in my life, too.
Heavenly Father, thank You for being our Great Healer. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to be Lord over our physical and our spiritual bodies. Use us to spread the Good News of our Savior to others. We pray in Jesus' Holy Name. Amen.
